Two months into his Presidency, Joseph Cullis has praised the input of Bacta’s Membership Support Officers in delivering a programme of workshops helping members to meet their obligations and raise standards across all of the trade association’s consumer-facing businesses
Bacta President Joseph Cullis has confirmed that he is ‘delighted’ at the response to the ‘Raising Standards’ workshops that are being run by the trade association’s team of Membership Support Officers (MSO).
The blended in-person and online workshops have been attended by over 100 operators in the last few weeks, with the latest follow-up session held on Thursday 28 August exploring key issues including operators’ LCCP obligations, the process for creating a self-exclusion, as well as early insight into changes to self-exclusion systems and processes.
Throughout the summer, the Bacta MSO team has been delivering training sessions for members in Scotland, the North East, the South West, London and the South East, with additional events planned for the Midlands, North West, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire to be completed in the coming weeks.
Reflecting on the initiative, Joseph Cullis said: “The workshops highlight the unique way in which Bacta is able to both promote and protect the business interests of its members. Part of the ongoing commitment that we make to our members is to ensure they have the tools to be across all of their responsibilities in what is a highly regulated sector.
“Our MSO team led by Head of Social Responsibility and Compliance, Simon Bradbury, represent our ‘boots on the ground’ and play a full and active role in helping members meet their obligations and raise standards across all of our consumer-facing businesses. The workshops have proven to be an invaluable opportunity for operators and key staff to ensure that processes are compliant and to raise any questions they may have.
“I’m delighted that so many members have participated in the workshops and are committed to ensuring that our venues remain some of the safest places for customers to enjoy themselves. My thanks to Bacta’s excellent MSO team and to all of our member businesses who have engaged with the initiative.”
