Bacta hosts key meeting of Scottish members in Glasgow

The engagement programme which sits at the heart of Bacta’s ‘protect and promote’ commitments continued in Glasgow when members of the trade association’s senior team met with members representing the industry in Scotland.

The importance of being able to draw on the insight and knowledge provided by Bacta’s Membership Support Officers (MSOs) was among a number of key take outs arising from the recent meeting of Scottish members held in Glasgow.

Hosted by incoming President Joseph Cullis, and featuring current President John Bollom, Executive Director Robert Gibb, Public Affairs Advisor Dane Bainbridge and MSO Justine Hillson, the annual meeting of Scottish members was part of a broader engagement programme which has seen Bacta’s head office team travel to meet with members and understand the practical issues impacting their businesses.

Reflecting on what was the third annual meeting of members operating businesses in Scotland Joseph Cullis said: “I believe it’s very important that Bacta is out in the field and is actively seeking feedback from the members – both positive and negative.

“As well as providing the latest updates and answering questions on the big-ticket items including technical standards, the anti-AGC campaign and the progress of the white paper in particular the 80/20 rule it was significant to hear how important it is for members, particularly Bacta’s smaller operators to be able to call on the MSO team if they have a problem or require confirmation of their licence obligations. The MSOs represent Bacta’s boots on the ground and are trusted by members as a resource of information and practical assistance when required.”

He noted: “This was our third annual meeting, and I am committed to continuing this platform which deals with business issues in a social setting. It’s hugely beneficial to hear from the horse’s mouth, to listen to what’s really impacting members and build that feedback into our programme of activities as we move forward as a professional and progressive trade association.”
