Bacta SR Exchange is full to capacity as members’ show their commitment to safer gambling

If there was any doubt that Bacta and its members are serious about safer gambling they have been put to rest with confirmation that the trade association is now operating a waiting list for those who have been unable to secure a space at the one day SR Exchange which alongside teams of consumer-facing staff will also welcome Dan Whitlam, Director of Compliance at the Gambling Commission.

Elizabeth Speed, chair of Bacta’s Social Responsibility Committee, has confirmed that the trade association’s SR Exchange taking place 26 March at the Marriot Hotel in Leeds is full with the demand for places exceeding the venue capacity.

Issuing a request to Bacta members to confirm their participation in order to minimise non-attendance and free-up any available places she stated: “The response to the SR Exchange has been exceptional and illustrates the importance that the industry and Bacta members in particular place on delivering a safe and enjoyable gambling entertainment experience to their machine players.

“The demand for places is such that we are now operating a waiting list and I would urge anyone who has registered and is unable to attend and any Bacta member who would like to attend to let us know by emailing dane.Bainbridge@bacta.org.uk”

Looking ahead to the importance of the one day free to participate Exchange she added: “The purpose of the Exchange is to provide an opportunity for consumer-facing team members to share their experiences, learn from each other and consolidate a culture of best practice.

“Having engaged with attendees we know the importance they place on having an environment in which they are confident to contribute and have their voice heard.

“Every year there are a huge number of safer gambling conferences and symposia which feature on policy but the Bacta SR Exchange is the only industry event which deals with the practicalities of delivering positive in-venue experiences.

“I’m also delighted that the SR Exchange will welcome key note speaker Dan Whitlam, Director of Compliance at the Gambling Commission and receive a presentation from Rob Mabbett of gaming consultancy Better Change who will outline the concept of Positive Play.”
