Britannia Pier has reopened the Pier Tavern following a three month period of refurbishment, part of a wider £2.2m project to fully redevelop the entrance to the attraction.
The front wall of the venue has been replaced with bifold doors which can be retracted in hot weather, while inside the bar has been recarpeted, redecorated, and modernised.
“It has had a complete refit from back to front,” said pier co-owner Cherise Abbott. “Before it was quite dark. It is now bright and airy. It will be a nicer atmosphere, more inviting and modern. We are really pleased with it.”
“The whole interior has had an uplift. We have restored it and brought it back to its original glory. We have kept the original feel to it but also given it a fresher, modern look. It is a big transformation, a massive transformation, and it needed it.”
The Pier Tavern transformation is the latest part of the pier renovation project which began in 2024, and has included a new indoor FEC, expanded arcade, and digital advertising screen.
“We are investing a lot of money and there has been a lot of love and effort put into it,” said Abbott. “We really hope people will appreciate it and that it will make a big difference.”
