The “happy memories” many locals will have of visiting the seaside have been evoked as the amusements industry prepares for the new season. In Towyn, the reopening of Knightly’s Fun Park has been the focus for the Liverpool Echo which has explored the seaside allure as the attraction welcomes families back this weekend.
The Liverpool Echo has praised Towyn – “a seaside town loved by Scousers” – ahead of the resort’s official reopening for the season, with Knightly’s Fun Park singled out as the source of “many happy memories.”
Well known for its caravan parks, amusement arcades, and leisure facilities, the town will begin welcoming back families making the most of the weather this month, including thousands from cities, notably Liverpool.
“Towyn, just a short drive from Rhyl, has been a popular destination with Scouse families for decades and continues to welcome visitors looking for a nostalgic trip to the coast,” reported the Echo.
“Although the town may be different from how many remember it, there’s still several long-standing businesses in the seaside town. The area is home to a number of caravan parks and camps, as well as fun parks, arcades and entertainment venues, with many operated by the Knightly family.”
Speaking to the paper, Luke Knightly said: “Being down here and what we do, and making people smile and that makes me happy. I enjoy what I do.”
“It’s hard work, it’s endless. A lot of people don’t see the work that’s put into it to get to where we get. But when you see a family walking away and they’ve had a great day at the amusement park or at the bar and the amusement arcade, that makes it all worthwhile.”
Knightly’s Fun Park reopens on 21 March, featuring a new pirate ship attraction and Apollo 13 ride, as well as a programme of events including an Easter festival, Pride and Oktoberfest.
