Butlin’s secures Guinness World Record for world’s largest claw machine

Butlin’s Bognor Regis has been awarded a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest claw machine, which was installed this summer to mark the company’s 90th anniversary.

The cabinet is 12 percent larger than the previous record holder, and weighs more than 2.3 tonnes, with a claw capable of picking up prizes as heavy as 8kg.

“As part of our 90th birthday celebrations, we wanted to create something truly unforgettable for our guests, and we’re incredibly proud to have secured a Guinness World Records title here at Butlin’s Bognor Regis,” said resort director Matt Rake.

“The world’s Largest Claw Machine is packed with giant prizes, and for just £1 a go, our guests can experience a world record for themselves. We can’t wait to see people taking on the challenge this summer.”

The “seriously huge” machine is 3.9 metres high, 6.8 metres wide and 2.5 metres deep, and is built from more than 4,200 individual components, with a dedicated seven-person team taking four days to bring it to life.

The cabinet was created in partnership with Genda Playnation Entertainment Ltd, and is filled with giant toys and prizes, and priced at just £1 per play.
