Chris Higgitt shares the “hard work and dedication” behind staggering success of that £1 burger

You know the summer season’s underway when Chris Higgitt hits the national headlines. And why not, where else can you get a burger for £1. Twenty years on the Las Vegas Arcade owner tells The Sun how he has managed the culinary and amusements spectacular that has fans queuing around the street corners of Blackpool.

Chris Higgitt, owner of the Las Vegas Arcade and £1 Burger Bar, has shared the “hard work and dedication” behind the success of his famous discount burger, which attracts thousands of visitors to his Blackpool venue each week.

Speaking to The Sun, Higgitt revealed that after 20 years of operation the bar is now “more popular than ever” thanks to his consistent approach to quality and price, with 5,000 burgers sold every seven days during the peak season.

“I am very proud of being able to keep the price for this long, but for me it all comes down to hard work and dedication,” said Higgitt. “It is more popular than ever, where else will you see someone queue over an hour for one?”

“People love the burgers and the businesses and I have designed it to be as efficient as possible – I don’t think there is anything more I can do.”

Higgitt still mans the burger bar himself, and treats preparation “like a production line, moving from right to left,” allowing him to “knock them out very quickly.”

Though he noted that “electricity prices have risen considerably” over the past two decades, Higgitt has been able to dramatically increase footfall by engaging new audiences with his own social media page, as well as established food YouTubers or TikTokers.

“This in turn, brings people to try it themselves or just to see me and enjoy the buzz of the place.”
