Clacton Pier is to host live performances from students of the nearby TTC Performing Arts College on 22 June, as they raise awareness of their campaign to save the college from closure.
The young performers will be showcasing their vocal talents outside the Boardwalk Bar throughout the day, as the school looks to raise £200,000 before the end of June in order to ensure its survival.
“When we found out the situation they find themselves in we were only too happy to help out and our visitors are in for a real treat,” said pier communications manager Nigel Brown. “The students will be performing vocals from 11am until early evening and along with their staff will be happy to talk to customers about the college and the issue it faces.”
“We really hope people will come along and give the youngsters their backing and encouragement to carry on their fight for survival.”
The fundraising campaign comes after a delay in the school’s new BA degree course, which means current and future students cannot access finance for the next 18 months.
“This extremely talented group of students love to perform and I am sure that everyone who comes along on Sunday will have a great time and be suitably impressed by the standard of performance,” said college principal Phil Gostelow.
