Claremont Pier to reopen The Venue nightclub

Claremont Pier is to reopen The Venue nightclub this month, with a “massive” launch party featuring DJs Paul Nolloth and Lateral planned for 18 July.

The 900-capacity club has remained closed since August 2023, but will now host a regular weekly event every Saturday evening from 10pm until 2.30am.

“I am hoping there is a hunger for it,” director Ben Llewellyn told the Lowestoft Journal. “If it all goes well we hope we can make a monthly event, on one Saturday a month, to keep it fresh.”

“We have the ‘OG’ in Paul Nolloth back for the reopening night and then after that we will have different DJs to keep it fresh each week with a range of varied sets.”

Llewellyn and his fellow directors undertook a major overhaul of the former Aquarium nightclub in 2021 one year after acquiring the pier, but were forced to close the venue again two years later.

“The big message is for people to use it or lose it – the nightclub is reopening for the first time since August 2023 and we are giving it a shot with seven events in six weeks. So we’ll see how it goes.”

“Let’s make it a great summer for the local music scene.”
