Coney Beach Porthcawl speaks out after HSE issues second ride with prohibition notice that lasted ten minutes

Coney Beach Pleasure Park Porthcawl has dismissed claims that the Health and Safety Executive ordered the permanent closure of a second ride while investigating the derailment of the Wacky Worm ride last month.

According to reports, the Mini Jet Ride was issued with a “prohibition notice” over safety concerns, however a spokesperson for the park stated that any questions regarding the safety of the ride were overstated.

“We can confirm that during HSE investigations into the unfortunate accident on the Wacky Worm Ride, a minor and completely unrelated issue was identified with the external walkway adjacent to the nearby Mini Jet ride,” said a spokesperson.

“It required the installation of some wooden packing of about 6mm to ensure it did not vibrate or feel insecure underfoot. It had absolutely no relevance to the integrity of the ride itself. The repair took no more than ten minutes during which the ride was closed. Permission was then given for it to operate as normal for the remainder of the day.”
