All eyes are on the UK’s bingo halls later this month when the sector celebrates National Bingo Week. It will be seven days of charity and community events and a quarter of a million pound prize on the National Bingo Game on the go as the industry sets out to reinforce its role as a high street entertainment leader and a crucial asset for social cohesion in towns and communities across the country.
National Bingo Week returns for its sixth year from 22-28 June, with bingo clubs across Great Britain set to host events, promotions and entertainment throughout the UK.
Licensed operators taking part in the week will run charity games, prize promotions and value sessions aimed at bringing together players of all ages. On Friday 26 June, clubs across the country will host charity games in support of Variety – The Children’s Charity, with MPs invited to attend and call games. The industry expects the initiative to raise more than £20,000, contributing to the more than £2m raised for the charity since 2015.
The week will also feature an increased £250,000 guaranteed prize during the National Bingo Game on Sunday evening, alongside club-specific offers and promotions.
“It’s fantastic to see National Bingo Week return for its sixth year. What started as an industry-wide moment has grown into a nationwide celebration of community, connection and great value entertainment,” commented Nicole Garrett, chief executive of The Bingo Association. “As more people look to step away from screen time and reconnect through shared experiences, we’re seeing a real resurgence in nostalgic social activities – and bingo is right at the heart of that trend.”
