Disco Bowl unveils its long term strategy after acquiring new sites in Burnley and Hereford

The new locations bring the total headcount of Disco Bowl’s growing estate to 11, as co-founder Nigel Blaire pledges a raft of investment and refurbishment will take both locations “to the next level”.

Relative new-kid-on-the-block Disco Bowl has continued its rapid expansion throughout England, with news that it will take over an additional two sites from the MFA Bowling estate, in both Burnley and Hereford.

Launched in 2019 by investors Nigel Blaire and Pete Terry, Disco Bowl has expanded rapidly to 11 locations throughout England, amongst which is its behemoth Nottingham site which at 48-lanes ranks as the largest bowling alley anywhere in the UK.

In a statement, Blair said that under the terms of this latest acquisition deal, MFA would continue to serve as landlord of both the Burnley and Hereford sites, as well as retain operation of its in-house Triple Two Coffee brand.

“These centres are strategically located and align perfectly with our expansion goals at Disco Bowl,” he said. “We have long admired these venues which are leaders in their local markets.”

Blaire added that Disco Bowl would look to “significantly invest, refurbish and enhance” both new centres.

True to its name, Disco Bowl has made something of a name for itself by offering the bowling experience enhanced with a night-club feel, in addition to leaning into other adult-play activities such as its hype-rurban, somewhat post-apocalyptic Scrapyard Golf minigolf experience, and rentable private karaoke suites. Blaire has said the aim of this multi-tiered approach is to create “a dynamic entertainment experience.”

“These [new] centres can expect DJ-led events and an upgraded light and sound system, reflecting our signature style across our existing locations,” he continued. “Exciting times are ahead, and we’re eager to take these venues to the next level.”
