The Gambling Commission welcomed a delegation of international regulators to the UK this week, as part of ongoing attempts to provide a unified approach to global regulation.
The Commission held a series of discussion groups at its Birmingham headquarters, ahead of its conference on 5 March.
“We’re welcoming International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) members and regulators from across the globe to events taking place today, offering a chance for professionals to discuss their country’s approach to these issues,” said a spokesperson.
“The events are a warm up to our conference tomorrow when we’ll welcome delegates to hear about how we are building the evidence base in Great Britain.”
Commenting on the Commission’s plans for international collaboration, senior manager for International Regulatory Partnerships, Jamie Wall, said: “It is with great pleasure that we welcome regulators from around the world to Birmingham to discuss and agree action on a wide range of topics that are affecting our jurisdictions.”
“Only by working together can we seek to tackle cross-jurisdictional issues such as illegal gambling and data collection.”
A spokesperson for Denmark’s regulator Spillemyndigheden added “we are very happy that our colleague Rasmus Hansen is in Birmingham representing the Danish Gambling Authority.”
