Gambling Commission suspends licence of Wyke Gaming and Amusement Centre

The Gambling Commission has suspended Wyke Gaming and Amusement Centre in Bradford from operating, after the AGC failed to participate in a gambling harm reduction initiative or comply with section 172(1) of the Gambling Act.

The owners of the Hanover Square venue have been ordered to cease trading until the regulator conducts a second inspection and is satisfied that self-exclusion measures are in place, as well as an independent complaints and disputes process.

“Wyke Gaming and Amusement Centre, of Hanover Square, Wyke, Bradford, has had its licence suspended with immediate effect,” stated the commission. “The operator failed to participate in a multi operator self-exclusion scheme.”

“The operator also failed to have arrangements in place for customers to be able to refer any dispute to an alternative dispute resolution entity. In addition, the operator was not compliant with section 172(1) of the Gambling Act which sets out that Category B gaming machines must not exceed 20 percent of the total number of gaming machines which are available for use on the premises.”

“The suspension will remain in effect at least until the Commission has been able to verify that the Licensee’s facilities are operating compliantly.”
