Game Nation announces new partnership with the CHIPS children’s charity

CHIPS is a charity well known to many in the industry. Over the last two decades it has funded the purchase of over 700 powered wheelchairs and in the process transformed the lives of recipients and their families. Now the team at Game Nation is focussing its talents on raising more money and helping more youngsters that the NHS is unable to assist.

High Street gaming retailer Game Nation has confirmed its decision to adopt CHIPS, the charity which raises funds to provide powered wheelchairs to young people whom the NHS is unable to assist.

CHIPS Chairs are designed and engineered to meet the physiological needs of each recipient and can cost up to £9,000. Formed by members of the gambling industry the registered charity has presented more than 700 wheelchairs, in the process transforming the lives of recipient children and their families.

Welcoming Game Nation to the CHIPS family of supporters, co-founder and Trustee Linda Lindsay said: “I am absolutely delighted at the prospect of partnering with the team at Game Nation as we work to generate more funds to help children who have been denied the twin gifts of freedom and independence.

“Having worked with so many families the length and breadth of the country I have seen at first hand the stress placed on them when they are informed that their child doesn’t meet the NHS criteria for a powered wheelchair. I’ve met children who can walk three metres and so they don’t qualify, despite the fact that after four metres they are struggling to stand and even breathe.

“Many of the families we’ve helped over the years would not have been able to carry on with their children’s education with just a K-Walker or heavy pushchair from the NHS but they’ve flourished and regained their independence and dignity with the powered chair that we have donated. I have attended virtually all of the 700 presentations that we have made and every single one has had a transformative effect. On behalf of my Trustees I would like to say how excited we are to be working with Game Nation and helping more youngsters to get mobile.”

Mark Jepp, CEO of Game Nation added: “I think CHIPS is one of the most deserving charities that I have encountered. There’s no paid chief executive, CHIPS Trustees take no expenses and every penny raised goes to fund the purchase of chairs. Its work is nothing short of incredible and we will be harnessing the skill, the incredible talent pool and the energy of the Game Nation team together with the generosity of our wonderful customers to help generate more funds and help more youngsters.”
