Game Nation has confirmed the extent to which venue teams and customers got behind the campaign to raise funds for industry charity CHIPS. In less than six-months the Game Nation family raised over £21,000 with the team at Portsmouth topping the table generating £2,306.50 to help fund the purchase of a wheelchair for a young person who the NHS is unable to assist.
Game Nation, the AGC operator which has 43 high street sites including the flagship Gerrard Street venue in the heart of London’s West End, has announced the results of its fundraising campaign in support of industry charity CHIPS.
In its first year partnering CHIPS, which has funded close to 800 bespoke wheelchairs for children who the NHS is unable to support, the Game Nation family, comprising team members, colleagues and customers exceeded target by over 150 percent raising an amazing £21,063.18 in just five months.
Game Nation’s south coast venues topped the fundraising league table with Portsmouth hitting the high notes raising £2,940 closely followed by Hampshire neighbours Southampton 1 which contributed £2,306.50 to the total.
Announcing the landmark achievement Game Nation HR Director Julie Redfern who helped steer the campaign said: “We began fundraising for CHIPS in late summer 2025 with the aim of presenting one child with a wheelchair by the end of the year.
“Despite my anxiety that we may had over-promised – at least in terms of the timeframe – we didn’t just meet the target we absolutely smashed it! Thanks to the incredible efforts of all our teams we proudly presented Alfie with his new powered wheelchair in Southampton in October alongside CHIPS co-founder and Trustee Linda Lindsay.
“It was an amazing and joyous day that really crystalised the great work that CHIPS continues to undertake.
“Essentially, CHIPS funds equipment that the NHS cannot or will not provide and that parents simply cannot afford themselves. CHIPS chairs give youngsters the freedom to move independently and the impact they have is transformative not just for the individual youngster but for the broader family group including siblings and parents.
“All of the money that we’ve raised has been generated by literally hundreds of quirky and creative initiatives implemented by our wonderfully clever colleagues and their customers. 2025 was a game-changing year in many different ways and we can’t wait to make our second presentation and help change the lives of another family.”
As well as being crowned Game Nation Fundraising Champions the Portsmouth venue team will be hosted for a meal at the prestigious Hippodrome Casino hosted by CEO Mark Jepp and HR Director Julie Redfern.
