As one of the industry’s leading providers of cash handling solutions, GeWeTe continues to play a key role in supporting operators through technological innovation. At this year’s PAOD, Coinslot spoke to sales manager Mark Edmundson about the growing demand for cashless payments, and how the company is preparing for the opportunities and challenges of the months ahead.
Coinslot: Tell us a little bit about GeWeTe’s presence at Park Avenue Open Day? What are your observations about the event this year?
Mark Edmundson: There’s always a buzz here, it’s a great social event, and well attended. The weather’s good as always, I don’t know how John books it! It’s a great atmosphere and it’s good for John and everybody to allow us to be here.
On show, we’ve got the Cash Centre Premium and the Tap and Play machine, promoting debit card transactions and winnings back to bank account, plus all the cash handling features for any AGC or FEC.
Coinslot: Park Avenue Open Day marks a key turning point in the year. How has the first half of 2025 been for GeWeTe?
Mark Edmundson: It’s been good. It’s steady, like everybody, but business is good. There’s a lot of interest in debit card transactions, more cashless systems are coming into play now. TITO’s still a growth area for operators in the AGC sector. Cash shrinkage happens, and payment devices and systems have got to be there to offer players choices.
Coinslot: Looking ahead, what should we look out for from GeWeTe in the coming months?
Mark Edmundson: We’re feeling very positive about the rest of the year. We’ve got a lot in the pipeline, a lot of new projects we’re working on with customers and operators, so it looks good.
I can’t talk about specifics at the moment, but there’s plenty to look forward to.
Coinslot: There’s been a lot of talk at the show about gambling reform, what are your main observations on GMTS and the direction of travel on regulation?
Mark Edmundson: For us, we have to make sure that we can help operators whether that be with membership systems, ticket traceability – we’re part of the same system. We have to cope with it like everybody else.
Potentially, the White Paper allows more machines for various sectors, which will help us and the cash handling sector because people will need more automation if they grow their business.
So having high-security cash solutions on site is a vital part of it, and GeWeTe is a major part of that, offering a range of machines that can cope with all sorts of payment issues, in and out. It’s something we’re watching closely, and it’s part of our development going forward.
