The Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting local youth employment by offering hands-on experience to a T Level Business student from Weston College.
The attraction has been a long-time investor in the potential of young people through its annual seasonal recruitment drives, and has now partnered with the college to provide an industry placement.
“Industry placements are a vital part of the T Level, giving students the opportunity to develop their skills, gain valuable workplace experience, and apply their learning in a real business environment,” said Weston College’s careers and employability coordinator Sarah Roberts. “A huge thank you to the team at The Grand Pier and Melissa Rule for supporting the next generation of business professionals and investing in local talent.”
“Partnerships like these help bridge the gap between education and employment, providing students with meaningful experiences that build confidence, knowledge, and career aspirations. We look forward to seeing our student flourish during their placement and to working closely with The Grand Pier throughout this exciting journey.”
In its mission to support local employment, the pier regularly recruits upwards of 30 staff for its peak season, and recently welcomed Stephanie Peacock MP, the minister for Sport, Tourism, Civil Society and Youth, to discuss how effective policy could boost that figure.
