Grand Pier’s owner Michelle Michael extends community engagement with school visit

Grand Pier director Michelle Michael attended a business-focused educational activity at Priory Community School Academy last month, which encouraged pupils to pitch product  ideas to a panel of local entrepreneurs.

The visit was part of the pier’s long-standing commitment to supporting the local community of Weston-super-Mare, with the initiative aimed at helping prepare students for “the world of work.”

“We love supporting our community,” said a pier spokesperson. “Recently, our company director, Michelle Michael MBE joined Priory Community School Academy’s Dragon’s Den activity. Students pitched their business ideas to a panel, gaining real-world feedback from professionals in various fields including accountancy, food production and engineering.”

“Employer involvement in school activities like this helps provide students with the experience they need to engage with different people in the world of work. Thanks to James Wilmot and PCSA for the invite, Michelle had a great time hearing from these inspiring young entrepreneurs!”

As well as engagement activities with schools, the pier also supports charities such as Weston Hospicecare, with the pier serving as starting point for the 10km Weston Hospicecare Moonlight Beach Walk in September.

The same month, the pier was also illuminated blue in support of Leukodystrophy Awareness Month.
