Hollywood Bowl is continuing to develop its sustainability initiatives, with 34 centres now featuring solar panels, while 100 percent of its directly purchased energy is drawn from renewable sources.
The operator has also reached the point where all of its waste is diverted from landfill and 83.5 percent is recycled, with several additional ecological initiatives launched at its sites across the country.
“We make sure that all our recycling is separated; glass bottles, cardboard and general waste, to ensure that’s all sustainable,” said Chris Beardsmore, assistant manager at Hollywood Bowl Merry Hill.
“We also ensure that we do car sharing at meetings to keep the carbon footprint down, and with our ordering we ensure that we order small amounts so we don’t waste anything through the month. We also look at turning off electrics where they’re not needed at the end of the night.”
