Ireland’s new regulator signs MOU agreement Gambling Commission

The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland and the UK Gambling Commission have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation between the two regulators.

The agreement was signed during a visit to Dublin on 2 April by Andrew Rhodes, CEO of the Gambling Commission. The MOU outlines a framework for collaboration between the two authorities, aiming to enhance their respective abilities to fulfil regulatory duties through closer working relationships.

“This Memorandum of Understand with the UK Gambling Commission is an important step in formalising the working relationship between the two regulators and I would like to thank Andrew Rhodes, and a number of his colleagues across the various areas of the Commission for their advice and support over the past number of months,” commented Anne Marie Caulfield, CEO of the GRAI. “Ireland and the UK share many of the same operators and gambling practices, so putting this agreement in place will enhance our ability to share information and discharge our respective regulatory responsibilities effectively. Open dialogue and close cooperation between both jurisdictions is paramount and I greatly look forward to continuing this close cooperation’s for the years to come.”

The bilateral meeting also covered key areas such as compliance, monitoring, and enforcement, as well as other regulatory issues relevant to both jurisdictions. It marks the beginning of a broader initiative by GRAI to establish similar agreements with other gambling regulators across the EU in the coming months.
