Consulting with operators at every stage of the R&D process has enabled JayBox to deliver its Connect app which upholds the reputation enjoyed by the family-owned business for innovation. With a handling fee of under 10 percent JayBox Connect is helping operators to maximise revenue streams as well as delivering a sector-leading user experience.
JayBox the family owned juke box innovator has announced the launch of its JayBox Connect app which has been developed in-house and in close collaboration with the company’s growing customer base.
All of the JayBox set-up and customisation features have been fully integrated with the app delivering optimal operational flexibility including per-venue pricing, free play, event timers and track exclusions meaning end-users receive the exact experience that the operator has defined. With a handling fee of under 10 percent – one of the lowest in the industry – JayBox Connect helps operators to maximise revenue streams at the same time as delivering an exceptional user experience.
Explaining the background to the latest initiative delivered by a brand which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, Managing Director Phil Bolderson said: “When my father Graham and Duncan Wood founded JayBox in 2005 one of their driving principles was to always work with the market and deliver a British manufactured product that set new standards and consistently exceeded expectations.
“We have responded to our customers’ requirements for a convenient and cashless way to engage with the music offering in their venues. Rather than present them with the product we think they should have we’ve consulted with operators at every stage of the R&D process and addressed their specific needs for an intuitive, frictionless interface for users but one which also respects the price of play, free play, and music restrictions that they have in place on a site-for-site basis.”
He added: “Based on their invaluable feedback the primary focus has been to provide as simple and intuitive an experience as possible. In particular, we have been careful to ensure that the account sign-up and venue check-in processes are as frictionless as possible, as you risk losing the users’ engagement if they are unable to access their venue quickly and easily.
“Beyond the initial sign in process, we’ve replicated our traditional digital jukebox user interface for music discovery and track selection, to ensure that users enjoy what is a straightforward and familiar experience. JayBox Connect also incorporates our powerful phonetic searching algorithms, which allow consumers to find the track they want even if they make a typo using smaller mobile devices.”
Referencing the feedback from an operator who cited app usage as constituting up to 80 percent of jukebox revenue he stated: “As smart devices become more ubiquitous throughout our lives, and more people are becoming used to controlling all aspects of their digital environment via their phones, app control will become the norm for jukebox control over the next few years. In addition, with surveys showing that the number of people in the UK carrying cash has fallen by as much as 75 percent JayBox Connect enabled jukeboxes provide operators and venues with an opportunity to recapture and engage with those users.
“In our pre-launch demonstrations customers have been hugely impressed by how easy the app is to use as well as how quickly tracks queued through the app are added to a jukebox’s playlist. We’ve also had very positive feedback on the search and music discovery process, and that jukeboxes set to the freeplay mode enable users to queue tracks for free without having to jump through additional hoops.”
As part of its commitment to backwards compatibility, the company is offering JayBox Connect functionality to any existing JayBox jukebox with a simple upgrade. For most units this is as easy as a hard drive swap, which can be provided FOC, in the process bringing even older models up to current specifications unlocking access to the newest features, as well as ensuring support for any future developments. Operators can easily choose to opt-in to app functionality through the Live Access Website, either on a company-wide or per-venue basis.
The app is live and available for download by searching JayBox Connect on the Apple or Google stores or scanning the JayBox QR code.
