Electrocoin sales and marketing manager John A Stergides successfully completed the 2025 London Landmarks Half Marathon on 6 April, raising more than £4,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Having finished the 13.1 mile course through central London in just over three hours, Stergides thanked those who supported his fundraising efforts and acknowledged the role Macmillan played in his own treatment.
“I’m pleased to announce that I managed to survive the half-marathon although I needed a few days to recover,” said Stergides. “It was an inspirational experience, due to the journey I’ve been on for the past two years. Who knows, I may try again in 2026!”
“I want to thank everyone for your comments and contributions, as we managed to raise in excess of £4,100 in such a short time. It’s going to a fantastic cause – MacMillan Cancer Support.”
The route of the London Landmarks half-marathon was particularly resonant for Stergides, who would frequently walk part of the course on his way home from his own chemotherapy treatment at Guy’s Cancer Centre at London Bridge.
“It was an opportunity to take in some of the sights of London (before returning indoors) and being a part of the London Landmark half-marathon just seemed like a good idea as a reminder of my enjoyment walking through London during that period of my life.”
The JustGiving page for Stergides’ run remains open for donations.
