The Kent and East Sussex Railway, which runs heritage train services between Tenterden and Bodiam, has installed a new gaming carriage in order to attract younger visitors.
Gaming on the Move will feature technology provided by local firm Techzone, including three consoles, each with 55” screens, and two simulators.
“I think it’s very important that we involve the younger generation and what better way to do that than to innovate and actually provide on the train the things that they would normally do at home?” K&ESR chair Derrick Bilsby told the BBC.
Techzone’s Daniel Lomass-Harris suggested the initiative could become “a new way for children and adults to experience gaming in the British countryside.”
Gaming on the Move will run from 26 to 30 May, giving children the opportunity to play various games during the journey to Bodiam in East Sussex, but will be unplugged on the return journey so “gamers can experience the sights with their other passengers.”
K&ESR volunteer Gavin Field welcomed the innovation, adding that Gaming on the Move “mixes two generations together and brings two different types of people into one location.”
“I’m looking forward to playing on the Formula One simulator, it’s excellent!”
