A touch of Magic has ensured that the dinosaurs will continue to roam South West Wales as the popular attraction Dinosaur Park has been sold by the Meyrick family. Magic Entertainment completed the acquisition this week.
Simon and Amanda Meyrick have sold the Dinosaur Park to Magic Entertainment Partners, three decades after they established the attraction as a playground with “just a couple of dozen model dinosaurs.”
The 26-acre park now regularly attracts 60,000 visitors each year with its 36 rides, woodland trail and walking safari featuring animatronic dinosaurs, as well as a VR arcade, dining facilities and gift shop.
“We have become the dinosaurs, so it is time for us to hang our boots up,” said the Merycks. “We hope we have given many families days out to remember over the years.”
Magic Entertainment Partners purchased the park for an undisclosed sum, one year after it was placed on the market for £4m, and has announced it will stay committed to its predecessors vision. “Most importantly, we want to build on the legacy that Simon and Amanda have created and ensure the park continues to thrive for future generations.”
It’s fair to say the dinosaurs are in good hands. The new owners include Jonathan Moran, former vice-president of business development at Universal Park & Resorts in the US, where he spent almost six years at the California HQ, before moving to Parques Reunidos in Spain.
It’s expected this international vision will influence much of Dinosaur Park’s direction going forward with the sales agent Christie & Co noting “the team hopes to further develop the park and attractions to take it to the next level.”
