Industry moves for former Sega Amusements International chief Paul Williams to be instated to the Bacta Hall of Fame will continue despite his untimely death this week.
Industry figures, led originally by Instance Automatics’ Ian Eason, had commenced the campaign several weeks ago following Williams’ decision to retire from his role at Sega.
Eason together with the support of Harry Levy, John Stergides Snr, Dean Harding and James Anderson amongst others, had contacted Bacta figures on the growing support to honour Williams in the industry Hall of Fame.
“Paul had been a key figure in machine innovation and delivering some of the best products for players for many decades,” Eason told Coinslot. “His death is a terrible blow for the industry. There are so many of us who valued his massive contribution. Our campaign to honour that contribution will continue.”
Coinslot has received numerous nominations over the past month for Williams to be honoured in the Hall of Fame and an ad campaign was also scheduled to court further support.
Eason concluded: “Our industry lost a good man this week, a good man with a great work ethic who took his business to the top.
“The words ‘To be this good takes Ages’ is very appropriate, he was that good-sleep well.”
