National Fairground Museum reopens at Statfold Country Park

The National Fairground Museum has officially reopened at Statfold Country Park, after rehousing several vintage rides from Dingles Fairground Museum in Milford Lifton.

The attraction welcomed guests including Theme Park Worldwide for the first time last weekend, with Mayor of Tamworth Chris Bain cutting the ribbon on Shaws Moon Rocket.

“Tonight we’re here at the grand opening of the National Fairground Museum Statfold,” wrote Theme Park Worldwide during the ceremony. “This amazing collection of vintage fairground rides and attractions can now be found at a new permanent home here in Tamworth, Staffordshire!”

The museum collection includes classic rides including dodgems, gallopers, and a ghost train, as well as rare survivals such as Edwards’ Chariot Racer.

“The breath-taking Roman chariot racing scene was a popular image on these rides,” said a spokesperson for the museum. “This was one of the best examples ever executed and the only one of its kind to survive still in use.”
