Preparation steps up for Safer Gambling Week 2025

Preparation for Safer Gambling Week 2025 is in full swing, with the Betting and Gaming Council, Bacta, the Lotteries Council and the Bingo Association all rallying for the return of the annual campaign later this month.

SGW 2025 will take place from 17 to 23 November, promoting a wealth of information on self-exclusion and safer gambling tools, with an aim to reach tens of millions of players via social media.

“Safer Gambling Week is a cross-industry initiative to promote safer gambling in the United Kingdom and Ireland,” said a spokesperson for the Betting and Gaming Council. “It highlights the safeguards put in place by the regulated industry – in stark contrast to the unlicensed black market.”

“The week will see a blitz of safer gambling messages online and in land-based venues to spark a nationwide conversation about responsible gambling.”

In 2024, Safer Gambling Week set new records on social media, generating over 60 million impressions across major platforms X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram, a 21 percent increase on 2023.

The campaign also generated more than half a million visits to the Safer Gambling Week website.

“These outstanding and record-breaking results prove once more that our industry is serious about promoting the safer gambling tools available to customers and signposting the help and support available to those who need it,” said BGC CEO Grainne Hurst.
