Rank Group on course to meet full-year profit expectations as venue revenue rises 13 points

Rank Group CEO John O’Reilly said the company is anticipating operating profit for the full year to meet expectations, with “ongoing growth and momentum across all businesses” coming ahead of land-based casino reforms. It’s one hell of a recovery for the father of the UK gambling industry, and aided by a land based revival across the Group.

The Rank Group has reported like-for-like net gaming revenue for the last quarter increased by 10.9 percent to £195.6m, in turn pushing year to date NGR up 12.2 percent, as the company enjoys “ongoing growth and momentum across all businesses.”

Venues NGR was up 9.1 percent for the three months to 31 March, thanks to “strong performance in table gaming” at Grosvenor, and a 3.8 percent increase in spend-per-visit at Mecca sites across the UK.

“Since announcing our interim results in January, we have continued to deliver strong growth and expect to deliver Group like-for-like operating profit for the full year in line with expectations,” said CEO John O’Reilly.

“This is notwithstanding the uncertain economic environment and the significant cost and regulatory headwinds that we face from the start of Q4 (1 April 2025).”

At Mecca, NGR increased by 1.9 percent despite a 1.8 percent drop in customer visits, with the growth in spend-per-visit helping year to date growth reach 4.8 percent.

Grosvenor venues shone with like-for-like NGR growing 13 percent.  That rise comrised a table gaming boot of 14.5 percent, and electronic roulette up 9.5 percent, “both of which continue to deliver the benefits from the positive customer reaction to the investment we have been making in our product.”

And O’Reilly is confident that the winds are blowing more favourably for the business. “We expect the Government to publish the statutory instruments for land-based casino reforms in the coming weeks and anticipate the roll out of additional machines and sports betting to commence during the summer,” he added.
