Acquisition by the Godden Gaming Organisation has meant the iconic Deluxe Bingo will welcome back punters to its main hall this summer for the first time in over two years.
A staple of the south-coast’s seafront is set for a triumphant return this summer, with news that Deluxe Bingo in Hastings will reopen on June 25 under new ownership by the Godden Gaming Organisation.
Launched as a bingo hall in 1969 by Harry Symonds and located just off the beach where William of Normandy landed for his victory lap in 1066, Deluxe is housed in the Georgian Pelham Place development: a site which saw previous incarnations as both a music hall and a cinema.
An unbroken operational record earned Deluxe iconic status within the landscape of seaside bingo, but all that came to an end in February of 2023, when it closed its doors for what many feared might be the last time. But like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, acquisition by Jeremy Godden has led to a second lease on life for the brand, amid new investment and a major refurbishment effort.
Indeed, the relaunched company has already hired a new onsite general manager in the form of Ileana Danescu, and is currently in the process of hiring new bingo callers and assistant managers in advance of its reopening in time for the high season.
“The Deluxe has always been more than just a bingo hall, it’s a place people remember, a real part of Hastings’ story,” said Godden. “We’re proud to be bringing it back, not just as a venue, but as a community hub where people can come together and have fun.”
