Sega Amusements International gave operators with big ambition but limited floorspace food for thought at the Social Immersive Entertainment Expo, with new products leveraging the evergreen appeal of golf, darts and bowling into attendant-free, scaled-down solutions.
It was hard to miss Sega Amusements International at the Social Immersive Entertainment Expo this year, with the company’s vast stand dominating a major portion of the show floor, and showcasing a slew of major machines and European debuts.
Featuring new takes on mini golf, bowling and darts, the product range focused on offering operators big-draw amusements on a smaller scale, with sales and marketing executive Lester Travasso welcoming the positive response.
“It’s been a good show for us this year,” said Travasso. “Day two has been just as busy as day one which is positive for us.”
“We’ve got a lot of product over here which is for the coin-op and amusement side, but also caters to the social entertainment customers too. This is us being able to show as much of our product as possible.”
As well as Alpha Ops: VR Strike, which enjoyed its European debut alongside Moto Blitz and Stop the Drop, three major draws were Neon Bowling, 501 Golf and AR Darts, which offer all the fun of the classic activities, attendant free.
“For these, venues don’t need more personnel,” said Travasso, highlighting the relatively small footprint of Neon Bowling.
“It can accommodate four players per lane, with two different game modes. Classic, and Neon Bowling, where players have to hit the illuminated pins.”
“Normally bowling requires an entire room behind, with this it’s literally that footprint, which is a massive advantage for operators that don’t have that space. It’s a really big product for us this year.”
