The UK’s largest pub operator Stonegate Group has placed 23 of its venues up for sale through Savills, as part of “routine portfolio review.”
The pubs in question are scattered in locations from Plymouth to Washington, and can be bought individually, or in packages, with each expected to remain trading as normal.
“As the UK’s largest pub company, we regularly review our portfolio for divestment opportunities,” said a spokesperson. “This package being marketed by Savills is a business-as-usual transaction.”
Speaking on the deal, Savills’ licensed leisure director Stuart Stares said “pubs are proving to be a resilient and increasingly attractive asset class, driven by the sector’s strong fundamentals – long leases, index-linked rent reviews and resilient trading performance.”
“Investor confidence is being buoyed by improving trading performance, significant reinvestment by operators and a more favourable economic outlook – including falling interest rates and steady consumer demand. As a result, we’re seeing renewed appetite for well-let pub assets.”
