With the political and regulatory landscape in flux ahead of next week’s ACOS, SB Machines managing director Paolo Sidoli remains upbeat about the year so far. Buoyed by excellent weather and high performing products, the seaside sector has enjoyed stronger-than-average revenues – signs, Sidoli says, that the sector’s enduring appeal continues to shine through.
Coinslot: The political and regulatory backdrop is all over the place as we head into next week’s ACOS 2025 edition. But, it’s one of the most important shop windows for the industry: what are you hoping to get from the Autumn Coin-Op Show.
Paolo Sidoli: We are expecting a good turnout and renewed appetite for coin operated product. IAAPA Barcelona was well attended and there was a vast choice of innovative equipment on show. This show sets the pace for all other shows.
On balance, it has been a very good year for amusement locations, particularly those that are situated around the coast. The weather has been excellent and as a result revenues have been better than the averages.
Coinslot:Setting the tough economic backdrop aside, in terms of product, the industry has been at the top of its game in recent years. What innovations and new launches will visitors be seeing on your stand next week?
Paolo Sidoli: Diggy with Claw, Peppa Pig Helicopter and Peppa pig Bus are raising the bar again when it comes to an immersive and engaging experience. These interactive rides are bristling with features that will keep children entertained for a long time, resulting in repeat custom.
Coinslot: We’re now in the final quarter of 2025, talk us through some of the key highlights of the year in terms of business growth and product launches?
Paolo Sidoli: Product launches must be phased and evidenced with good performance indicators and reliability. We have deliberately extended our site testing to ensure that we can provide the best in class.
ACOS is the first UK show where we can demonstrate the strength of our new launches
Coinslot: There’s obviously no escaping the political, economic and regulatory mess the industry is facing at the moment. What changes does the industry require to realise the growth that’s so desperately needed for the UK?
Paolo Sidoli: Well, seeing what has happened this year or rather what has not happened, I think now, I will be happy with the status quo.
Potentially, as an industry we could go backwards, if the government or the Commission start squeezing more from us.
