The Bacta Charitable Trust to make a £50,000 charity donation as part of 50th celebrations

Being a member of Bacta also means being part of a community which recognises the importance of helping groups and individuals facing difficult and challenging circumstances. The Bacta Charitable Trust will be demonstrating exactly what that means when it presents a cheque for £50,000 to long-standing partner Rays of Sunshine.

In keeping with the industry’s commitment to help those sections of society who are less fortunate, Bacta will be using the platform provided by its 50th anniversary celebrations taking place at ACOS to present a cheque for £50,000 to its charity partner Rays of Sunshine (ROS). The funds come from the Bacta Charitable Trust which raises money for good causes.

A small charity which grants wishes for children and young people with a serious or life-limiting illness, Rays of Sunshine has received in excess of £700,000 in Bacta donations since it was adopted as the trade association’s charity partner. The donation will be received by Cissy, a Rays of Sunshine Ambassador who was the recipient of an ROS ‘Wish’ during her battle with cancer as a teenager.

Bacta President John Bollom said: “Rays of Sunshine is a fantastic charity which makes the wishes of seriously ill children come true, in the process providing them with an uplifting memory that they will carry with them. The £50,000 donation will go a long way to funding the wishes of a further 50 children and help the work of a charity that Bacta members have really taken to their hearts.”

Reflecting on the trade association’s relationship with good causes, John Bollom added: “As well as supporting numerous organisations that have a personal connection, Bacta members also contribute to the invaluable work undertaken by the Bacta Charitable Trust. Since it was formed in 1991 the Trust has supported a broad range of charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Princes Youth Business Trust, British Institute for Brain Injured Children and the Multiple Sclerosis Society – to name but a few. Being a member of Bacta is being part of an extended community which recognises the importance of supporting those members of society who are facing difficult and challenging circumstances.”
