“The industry needs clarity and consistency above all else”: E-Service primed to deliver at ARE

Following a busy period of new partnerships and product releases, E-Service will showcase an array of solutions “that solve real operational challenges” at ARE, including the MyCheckr system and Thomas change machines. Sales director Paul Scott explained how, more than ever, the company’s portfolio is about “giving operators choice.”

Coinslot: It’s been a tough start to the year both economically and on the regulatory front. What are you hoping to get from the two days in Manchester and what will the main topics of debate be about?

Paul Scott: It has been a challenging start to the year, and that’s exactly why events like ARE Expo matter.

For us, it’s about getting back in front of customers, having honest conversations and understanding what operators are dealing with day to day.

The key topics we expect to come up are cost pressures, efficiency and compliance; particularly around age verification and cash handling. Operators are looking for solutions that are reliable, easy to implement and deliver value quickly.

ARE Expo gives us the opportunity to show that there are practical ways to address those challenges without overcomplicating things, and to share ideas with the wider industry about how we move forward.

Coinslot: In terms of product, what innovations and new launches will visitors be seeing on your stand next week?

Paul Scott: This year, we’re focusing on solutions that solve real operational challenges.

We’re sharing Stand 33 with Innovative Technology, where we’ll be demonstrating the MyCheckr system in a live environment. What’s particularly interesting is how its internal relay can be used to control access gates, giving venues a straightforward way to restrict entry to over-18s while keeping the customer journey smooth.

Alongside that, we’ll be showcasing our range of Thomas change machines, from high-capacity TITO ATR units through to more compact, cost-effective models like the Slimline and 1000 series. It’s about giving operators choice depending on the scale and needs of their venue.

We’ll also be talking about our ticketing solutions, particularly the importance of high-quality ticket stock in reducing downtime and improving overall machine performance; something that can often be overlooked but makes a real difference.

Coinslot: We’re now into the second quarter of 2026, what have been the highlights of the year so far in terms of business development and product launches?

Paul Scott: It’s been a busy start to the year for us, particularly in terms of strengthening partnerships and expanding the range of solutions we’re able to offer.

We’ve seen continued demand for flexible payment and cash handling systems, and we’ve been focused on making sure our offering reflects that – from traditional change machines through to newer technologies around access control and cashless integration.

Another highlight has been the ongoing growth of our support and service side of the business. Operators are placing more value on reliability and fast turnaround, so ensuring we can deliver that consistently has been a big focus for us.

Coinslot: Looking at the market forces and the somewhat erratic signs regarding movement on the Gambling Review, how do you feel about the proposed changes in legislation and what the industry needs to realise the growth we need moving forward?

Paul Scott: There’s definitely a level of uncertainty at the moment, and that can make it difficult for operators to plan with confidence.

From our perspective, the industry needs clarity and consistency above all else. Regulation is important, but it needs to be practical and proportionate, allowing businesses to operate effectively while meeting compliance requirements.

At the same time, there’s an opportunity here. Operators who invest in the right systems whether that’s age verification, payment solutions or data-driven insights – will be in a stronger position to adapt as the landscape evolves.

Ultimately, growth will come from a combination of sensible regulation and operators having access to solutions that help them run more efficient, resilient businesses. That’s where we see our role supporting the industry with tools that work in the real world.
