The party never ends: Disco Bowl acquires two more MFA venues

Disco Bowl has added a further two sites to its UK estate, after purchasing bowling centres in Burnley and Hereford from MFA, with both venues already established as “leaders in their local markets”.

Disco Bowl is rolling ahead with its expansion programme, purchasing two “strategically located” bowling centres in Burnley and Hereford from operator MFA for an undisclosed sum.

The Nottingham-based bowling brand, fresh from the acquisition of Superbowl sites in Warrington, Cardiff and Newport last November, will now invest in taking the latest additions “to the next level.”

“These centres are strategically located and align perfectly with our expansion goals at Disco Bowl,” said commercial director Nigel Blair. “We have long admired these venues which are leaders in their local markets.”

“While it’s too early to outline specific renovation plans, we’ve had tremendous success with our Scrapyard Golf and Karaoke Box concepts. As our name suggests, we emphasise creating a dynamic entertainment experience.”

The Hereford and Burnley bowling alleys will retain their MFA branding until Disco Bowl completes its renovation, which is likely to take place in the coming months.

“These centres can expect DJ-led events and an upgraded light and sound system, reflecting our signature style across our existing locations,” said Blair. “Exciting times are ahead, and we’re eager to take these venues to the next level.”

The Disco Bowl estate now features ten locations across the UK, including Banbury, Chatham, Lewisham, Nuneaton, Worcester, and the country’s largest bowling alley in Nottingham, which boasts 48 lanes.

At both Burnley and Hereford, MFA will remain as landlord to Disco Bowl, allowing the company to focus on its own expansion into hospitality.

“As with all good deals this deal benefits both parties,” added Blair. “MFA can concentrate on expanding their Triple Two Coffee brand whilst we look to significantly invest, refurbish and enhance these sites.”
