Unity Beach Holiday Park unveils new plans for major leisure and entertainment expansion

Unity Beach Holiday Park has unveiled ambitious plans to expand its existing entertainment venue in Brean, creating a new 1,100-capacity theatre show bar and outdoor play area, expanded bowling alley and FEC complete with food kiosks and a gift shop.

Unity Beach Holiday Park in Brean has submitted plans to Somerset Council to significantly expand its existing leisure facilities, adding a 1,100-capacity showbar and outdoor play area, while relocating the existing bowling alley and FEC to a new larger facility.

The scheme would see the current RJs site refurbished and extended to meet the entertainment demand of guests in its 1,600 caravans, delivering “clear economic, social, and environmental benefits,” while creating 38 full-time equivalent jobs.

“The former bowling and arcade building which hosted tenpin bowling and amusements, would be demolished as owners say the building does not meet operational requirements,” reported Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News.

“The bowling and arcade would then move into a remodelled building, which would house the attractions as well as extra food outlets and a gift shop. The long‑running venue currently provides shows, a bar and kitchen but, according to the planning application, is no longer big enough for the park’s needs.”

The theatre will seat 740 people on the ground floor and 360 on a balcony, with access restricted solely to Unity Beach guests, who use passes to get into the venue.

“Outside, a new terrace and children’s play area would run along the side of the showbar. The aim is to create more space for families to sit, eat and watch performances.”

“Under the proposals, the entertainment complex would open until 11pm on Sundays to Thursdays. On Fridays and Saturdays it could stay open until 1am.”
